Project Spotlight: USAID/Egypt SIMPLE Project

QED’s Eric Benschoter and colleagues Mervat Shoukry, Laila Kamal, and Ahmed Gabr visit with in-country partner North South Consulting Exchange on a dinner boat along the Nile river. Eric is the Project Advisor for QED’s USAID/Egypt Services to Improve Performance Management, Enhance Learning and Evaluation (SIMPLE), a project with the overall goal of improving USAID/Egypt’s performance management at all levels, enabling the Mission to meet Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) requirements, make better informed strategic decisions, and advance agency learning. QED provides performance management, monitoring, evaluation, project and program design, and information management services.

The SIMPLE team has worked on a number of key activities thus far, such as creating a report on the USAID/Egypt’s programmatic strengths, areas where impact could be increased, and approaches recommended for future programming. The project has also reviewed Monitoring and Evaluation plans for two different activities, including the Positive Life Alternatives for Egyptian Youth At-Risk of Irregular Migration (PLAYA) project, and the Workforce Improvement and Skill Enhancement (WISE) activity. Additionally, the team is conducting a performance review of a grant aimed at supporting and empowering youth to exercise their civil rights in the North Sinai region of Egypt.
